La Nine is a typical Languedoc blend with aromas of spice, complex saddle leather, peppery herbs, garrigue and sweet red and black fruits, a nose of very beautiful purity. It’s medium-bodied, focused and elegant, with solid tannins, giving some cut and length on the finish.

Pairs well with a vegetable caponata with balsamic vinegar and a beef medallion.

Wine Profile
Vineyard Notes
The vines grow on two different terroirs: clay-limestone soil and garrigue siliceous lenses. At the foothills of the Black Mountain, the vines are spread out about 7 miles through different villages, and Jean Baptiste believes that the climate has more impact on them than the actual composition of the soil and subsoil.
Winemaker Notes
Jean Baptiste and his wife Charlotte decided 20 years ago to change their life and moved from Paris to Trausse in the Minervois region of the Languedoc, a place where his mother's family used to live. He had already done some interesting and promising wine tests here with a friend, who was a winemaker he met during his previous stays in the Minervois. Jean Baptiste dreamed of working with his hands and in 1996 he created his first vintage. He reorganized the whole winery and hired a man who would teach him how to be a true winemaker. He found his own style and since then he has created wines based on his character: honest, true, direct. He makes lively, fresh and elegant wines with a real terroir identity. He read Jules Chauvet's books which helped him visualize the kind of wine he wanted to make: a natural wine, and that led him to the EcoCert Organic Farming. Jean-Baptiste works in the vineyards and in the winery, and Charlotte oversees administrative and commercial aspects.
Food Pairing Notes
Pairs well with a vegetable caponata with balsamic vinegar and a beef medallion.
Other Notes
Ageability: Drink now or keep until 2033. Decant for one hour prior to drinking. La Nine means "The little one", "The sweetheart"... it's an affectionate Occitan way to address a young girl. La Nine is a cuvée Jean Baptiste has been making for 20 years and "she" is close to our heart”.
