This ‘Tribe of the Volcano” is a complex wine with an elegant structure and beautiful aging potential.  Aromas of ripe, black fruit, cherries, and stewed fruits give way to peppery notes and a beautiful minerality. The tannins are fine and reveal notes of licorice, roasted coffee, and black tea.

Perfect with spicy tapas, herb-crusted steak, slow-cooked pork, or grilled portabella mushroom burgers.

Wine Profile
Vineyard Notes
Located in the town of Caux to the north of the medieval town of Pezenas, the Allegria vineyards lie on the slopes of an ancient volcano on the hills of the Haute Languedoc. Nine Mediterranean grape varieties make up the mosaic of the domaine's tiny vineyards: Syrah (this is the majority), Grenache Noir, Mourvèdre, Carignan Noir, Cinsault, Roussanne, Marsanne, Grenache Blanc, and Carignan Blanc. The vineyards range in age of 17 to 40 years old.
Production Notes
The Syrah was aged in tanks, the Mourvèdre in barrels. By blending wines aged in barrels and tanks, this vintage gains in complexity. Wine aged in tanks has more fruit, more aromatic freshness. The wine aged in barrels is longer, more structured, marked by spices and peppery aromas. The blend makes it possible to combine these two distinct aromatic profiles and create a balanced wine with good aging potential.
Winemaker Notes
Created in 2008, Allegria is the result of a Franco-Argentinian friendship between the French Aboville family and the Argentinian Mota family of winemakers: on the one hand the passion and enthusiasm of a young family raising five children; on the other, one of Argentina's greatest oenologists, Roberto de la Mota, creator of Cheval des Andes and Bodega Mendel, recognized by all fans of Malbec.
Food Pairing Notes
Perfect with spicy tapas, herb crusted steak, slow cooked pork, grilled portabella mushroom burgers.
Other Notes
Ageability: Drink now or keep until 2027. Serve at 60°. If you don't have a cellar worthy of the name, put it in the refrigerator for half an hour and it will be perfect.
