Sommelier Notes: Let’s just say both men and women are in love with Simon Coulshaw, the fantastic winemaker behind this orange wine. Simon worked in IT just long enough to make enough money to quit and follow his true passion: winemaking. All of Simon’s wines are a real reflection of Simon and his wife Monica’s incredibly hard work and absolute dedication to organic and biodynamic farming, despite repeated crop losses when chemicals would have saved the day. Every wine they make has a strong and unforgettable sense of place-the terroir literally speaks to you from the glass. They have vineyards of 15 hectares in AOC Faugères producing elegant and spicy wines and 9 hectares in AOC Pézenas Coteaux de Languedoc with softer more fruit forward wines.

So, what IS an “orange wine”? White wines are made from juice pressed from the grapes and separated from the grape skins and seeds. With an orange wine the winemaker allows the juice to stay in contact with the skin and seeds for several days. This enhances the flavors of the wine, adds gorgeous ginger color and gives a slight touch of tannins from the skins and seeds. This l’Imaginaire cuvée has wonderful acidity to balance the fresh almond flower, peach, mimosa and slightly spiced aromas, resulting in a truly irresistible wine with elegant freshness. Very low sulfites. Suitable for vegans too!
