This Syrah, Grenache blend has a deep garnet color and aromas of black pepper and blackberry, followed by a hint of licorice. The grape varieties join forces to offer an ample, earthy wine, with grippy but pleasant tannins, flavors of baking spices and ripened cherries, and a beautiful length on the palate.

À Huis Clos will pair well with a nice rib of beef or marinated lamb.

Wine Profile
Vineyard Notes
The 12 hectares of the estate are based on clay-limestone soils or “Grés de Montpellier” (rolled pebbles). The Domaine's vines, like the family that cultivates them, are deeply rooted in the terroir of Cournonterral, land of ancestral viticulture. This stony and poor land is, in fact, characterized by its geological diversity. In Languedoc, where it is very widespread, the word “gres” is associated with its geological particularities, meaning “stony terrain”. The dry climate and maritime inflows of humid air in summer favor early maturity and a good balance of the vegetative cycle.
Production Notes
These vines, almost 40 years old, offer us the flagship vintage of Clos d'Elle. Typical of the Grés de Montpellier terroir, À Huis Clos is aged for 12 months in barrels.
Winemaker Notes
Domaine Clos d'Elle’s logo, a heart formed by two “parent” vines, conveys the values of family, communion and passion that characterize this winery. Founder Claude Bousquet was inspired by his love for the extraordinary terroir of the Languedoc. He dreamed of passing on the tradition of winemaking to his children and named the estate in honor of his youngest, his daughter Coralie. Today his two sons, Matheiu and Benjamin, work alongside him, producing delicious wines and keeping the family winemaking tradition alive. Mathieu’s wife is the American born Laurie Kain.
Food Pairing Notes
À Huis Clos will pair well with a nice rib of beef or marinated lamb.
